A Writing Instrument That Changes With The Light.

Inspired by the luminous beauty of amethyst and opal, the Amethyst Opal Gold Rollerball Pen is a study in color, light, and contrast. Swirling shades of soft lavender, violet, pearl, icy blue and subtle flashes of iridescent color move throughout the body, creating an almost ethereal depth that reveals something different from every angle.

The cool, luminous character of the Amethyst Opal resin is beautifully contrasted by rich polished gold hardware, giving this writing instrument an elegant warmth and unmistakable presence.

No two Amethyst Opal pens are exactly alike. Each is individually hand-lathed in Lone Tree, Colorado, allowing the natural movement and character within the material to become part of the finished design. The result is not simply a beautiful pen, but a one-of-a-kind writing instrument created for one individual owner.

DESIGN

Our custom Highlander hardware is distinguished by the Rampant Lion, a revered symbol of Scotland representing strength, courage and nobility.

Our interpretation depicts the lion standing upon writing paper while holding a pen—a distinctive expression of Highlander’s Scottish heritage and our belief in the enduring power of the written word. The lion adorns the finials while also contributing to the substantial, balanced feel of the instrument in hand.

The center band is detailed with a repeating series of our understated “H” insignia—a subtle signature of Highlander craftsmanship and a reminder that we are all Highlanders at heart.

The removable, non-postable cap was intentionally designed to preserve the pen’s balance while writing. Paired with a German-made Schmidt 5888 fine-tip rollerball refill, the Amethyst Opal delivers the fluid, effortless writing experience of a fine rollerball with the presence of a substantial handcrafted instrument.
