My Friends,

People are walking off cliffs while texting. (True story!). Cars drive themselves, Airplanes fly themselves, Boats navigate waters by themselves, and Artificial Intelligence is even writing our students thesis’.   “Do these modern day advances really improve our lives?"

Whatever happened to the days of Jimmy Dean looking cool driving his manual sports car?  Or the romance of flying across the Pacific Ocean to Hawaii in a Pan Am Clipper?  Navigating the Amazon river in a rowboat with a canteen of fresh water, or exploring the Valley of the Kings with only a compass and a shovel?

Humanity is losing its sense of adventure and beauty, replacing it with technology.  Now I'm not bashing technology.  It certainly has its place in society, and it will continue to provide extraordinary advancements.  Heck, I believe that AI will help cure disease, poverty, hunger, etc.  But we are also in a critical time where we must also ask ourselves, “What is the point of living if we are just becoming robots trudging our way through time and space, only to die after a long life of being controlled and influenced by technology?”. 

Now, I am writing this on my iPad, (cool tech!).  However, everything you are reading here was first written by hand, with my "Sky Blue" Gold Highlander Rollerball Pen.

Younger folks and even grown adults, just go through the motions all day so they can play video games all evening.  I know, I've been there at one point, and then woke up!  Just like Morpheus woke up Neo in The Matrix.

Pull out your notebook or journal, your favorite writing instrument, and let your brain reconnect with your hands.  Realize that there is genius within you that cannot be influenced, and ultimately monetized by others. Yes, monetized.  That is what technology is all about….YOUR checkbook.

Try turning off the news once in a while.  What is the news anyway?  Most of it is repetitive garbage.  News Chanels are a “For Profit” entity.  The majority of news is designed to rob you of your time and attention through alarm and shock.  By steering your attention away from what “really” matters, they ultimately profit by capitalizing on that attention.

There is a constant battle from millions of entities to take any piece of your mind and time, (what I call attention), to turn it into profit for themselves.  Seriously, how many apps are there available for download with “in app purchases”?
